Queen Elizabeth Hall – Facing Materials
Supplying brick materials for a new boarding house within a historic location
All Brick and Stone were approached by Adrian James Architects directly for a project that required our assistance with supplying building materials. Queen Elizabeth Hall, a new girls’ house for boarding, situated within the historic public school grounds of Shrewsbury School had been approved and were seeking a suitable brick that would compliment not only the design, but the neighbouring teaching block set within the school grounds.
All Brick and Stone welcomed the opportunity to collaborate once again with the architect on a project for Shrewsbury School, given our long standing relationship through past projects. Our previous experience working on Hodgson Hall with Adrian James, allowed for an exciting chance to contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s facilities for girls.
We were tasked with sourcing a brick for the overall design which was cost effective and sympathetic to the natural surroundings offering a softer façade and a more domestic exterior. Samples were sent within budget and a brick was chosen by the client that not only met aesthetic requirements but adhered to sustainability standards.
Overall, the project was a success, as we maintained regular communication throughout the process. We effectively sourced and supplied the necessary materials, which were delivered directly to the site. It is always a privilege to be involved in such unique projects and work with a fantastic practice.
